BPC helps to plant nine brand-new forests

Matt O’Keefe and Mike Shepherd from the BPC Northern office have been helping to plant new trees at the Blenheim Estate, Oxfordshire. Their efforts supported a wider collaboration between Blenheim Estate and Morgan Sindall to create nine new forests which will be planted with a quarter of a million trees.

The BPC team were involved because they have been named Overbury CSR Partner of the Year (Overbury is part of the Morgan Sindall Group). On 21st February, Matt and Mike not only helped plant trees at Stratford Bridge Wood, but also enjoyed a fascinating tour of Blenheim Palace (the birthplace and ancestral home of Winston Churchill).

The team were delighted to help out with the tree planting project. Over the coming years, the new woodlands will be home to 28 carefully selected varieties of trees. Over 25 years, the forests will sequester a total of 22,000 tonnes of carbon – a major benefit for the environment. The forests will also improve the biodiversity of the area, prevent soil erosion and improve water quality.
