Installing ceilings with the ‘wow’ factor for Brighton College

BPC is proud to have successfully installed innovative ceilings from Hunter Douglas Architectural at one of the UK’s top independent schools, Brighton College.

The college’s project management team had been wowed by a cell-type ceiling at a Paris school. Project leaders Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) selected Hunter Douglas to supply a wide range of ceilings for the school.

The installations included 4600 sq. m of aluminium open cell ceilings in modular tile for common areas and classrooms. For the sports hall, gym and pool, the specified ceilings were of Rotterdam open ‘Mesh’, with an open area of 50%. Corrosion-proof aluminium was chosen for the pool area, while steel was selected for the gym and sports areas because of its impact resistance.

Terry Sherrin, BPC’s Director of Operations, said: “This was a complex and challenging project with many design factors and working in conjunction with Hunter Douglas, we managed to achieve the successful installation of all ceilings in the new Sports and Science Building. The products were exceptional in quality and design, which resulted in meeting the client’s high expectations”.
