Building Up the next generation of construction enthusiasts

We’re proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with local charity Build Up to create new opportunities for young people in London. Build Up organises and runs construction projects for youngsters aged 10-23 who design and build structures in their local communities. Past projects have included a bike workshop in Lambeth, a forest structure in Hackney, a viewing shelter in Newham and a community space in Enfield.

BPC will be helping young people involved with Build Up to construct amazing new structures in their communities. Our involvement will help them learn construction skills, become adept at decision making and make a real-life impact in the places they live. For most, Build Up gives them the opportunity to take on roles and skills that wouldn’t normally be open to them.

Build Up – originally named the Risk Agency – was founded in 2014 by Adventure Playground Engineers (APES). From simple beginnings, Build Up now gives many young people the space to take risks and test out new ideas. BPC is delighted to be involved in the next stage of the charity’s journey
