Introducing our new charity partner – St. Hilda’s East Community Centre

We’re delighted to announce that BPC has established a new partnership with local charity, St Hilda’s East! (https://sthildas.org.uk/) From this point forward, our efforts in fundraising and volunteering will be dedicated to supporting this remarkable charity.

St Hilda’s East is a dynamic community hub, providing a wider range of essential services for individuals of all ages and backgrounds in Tower Hamlets. It runs a Day Centre, providing person-centred care for older people from the Bangladeshi and other communities. It also has a busy Community Centre in Shoreditch – just a short distance from BPC’s offices – where activities include Stay & Play for under 5’s, aspirational activities for young boys and girls, a bilingual advice service, wellbeing sessions for people who experience mental health issues, a food co-op providing affordable fresh fruit and vegetables, and many social activities for older people who experience social isolation.

Founded in 1889 by former pupils of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, St Hilda’s East has been an integral part of our community for 135 years. Today, its mission is more crucial than ever as Tower Hamlets has England’s highest percentage of both children and older people living in income deprived households. St Hilda’s East works tirelessly to combat disadvantage, foster social cohesion, and enhance individual well-being.

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be posting details of our volunteering and fundraising work for this amazing charity. This year St Hilda’s East celebrates its 135th anniversary and is aiming to raise £135,000 to fund its life-changing work.
