Mike raises £2,270 for The Christie Charity
Congratulations to BPC Interiors Quantity Surveyor, Mike Shepherd, who smashed the Adidas Manchester Marathon on 14 April.
Mike put in a huge amount of training for the event, going from zero running in January to running a full marathon only three months later. He says, “I didn’t think it was achievable, but it shows if you believe in yourself can achieve anything!”
Mike completed the course in an impressive 5h 5m and 4s. He certainly knew about it the next day. “I’m in absolute agony – I practically crawled up the stairs into the office. I couldn’t even get any trainers or shoes on either due to pain in my feet!”
Although it’ll take him a few days to recover, Mike knows that it was worth it. Thanks to his efforts and determination, he’s raised £2,270 for The Christie Charity. This fantastic organisation supports cancer patients over and above what the NHS funds. It does everything from supporting cancer research and funding breast cancer trials through to providing art therapy and wig fitting.
