Rewilding Bunhill Fields – a team effort!

On 31 January, our colleagues at Overbury organised a fantastic volunteering session at Bunhill Fields, a former burial ground in Islington. They invited a number of their contractors to lend a hand, and BPC’s Serg Stulkivskyy Jnr was proud to take part!.

The plan for the day was to help The Friends of City Gardens with an ambitious rewilding project. The team worked hard digging compost, gathering branches, building dead hedges, shifting 10+ cubic metres of wood chip, and repairing compost bins.

Sarah Hudson from The Friends of City Gardens was thrilled with the impact: “You all achieved an amazing amount… you’ve made such a huge contribution to Bunhill’s sustainability – keeping carbon on site – and as the chips compost they will be a great habitat for invertebrates and fungi. We will use the 40 bags (!) of leaf mulch to improve soil structure and moisture retention.”

A huge thank you to everyone involved, and well done to Serg for ensuring BPC Interiors played a part in this vital environmental project.
